Ever wished you had that perfect image to accompany your blog post or newsletter, but didn’t want to pay an expensive stock photography licensing fee? On a shoestring budget, it just isn’t realistic that you can afford to pay professional photography rates for every single post and email you send.
Luckily, there’s an image search engine that will help you sift through the millions of photos on Flickr.com to find royalty free photos. It’s called Compfight.com.
Fortunately, Compfight.com allows you to restrict your image search to just photos which have been tagged with Commercial-Approved licenses that allow you to do things like share or include the photos in your commercial work.
How to Use Compfight to Find Images You Can Use for Your Blog Posts & Newsletters:
- Visit Compfight.com
- Search for a term (such as: “candle”)
- When the results begin loading, click the link on the left hand side of the screen which says “Commercial” (it’s below “Any license.”)
- The results will then change to display “free to use commercially” licensed photos.
From there you can save or copy the image as you would normally to use in your own work. The right thing to do is then give credit to the photographer and be sure to link back to the original image location on Flickr.com.
