Scott’s Thoughts: 10 Quotes for Father’s Day

With Father’s Day coming on Sunday, June 16th, I thought this would be a good time to share a collection of ten quotes you can use to pass along to friends, family, and share with clients. (These were originally featured in a Father’s Day collection we produced for My Real Helper members.):

“He didn’t tell me how to live; he lived, and let me watch him do it.” (Clarence Budington Kelland)

“My father gave me the greatest gift anyone could give another person, he believed in me.” (Jim Valvano)

“Being a great father is like shaving.  No matter how good you shaved today, you have to do it again tomorrow.” (Reed Markham)

“Life doesn’t come with an instruction book; that’s why we have fathers.” (H. Jackson Brown, Jr.)

“My father used to play with my brother and me in the yard.  Mother would come out and say, “You’re tearing up the grass.”  “We’re not raising grass,” Dad would reply.  “We’re raising boys.”" (Harmon Killebrew)

“His heritage to his children wasn’t words or possessions, but an unspoken treasure, the treasure of his example as a man and a father.” (Will Rogers Jr.)

“A father is a guy who has snapshots in his wallet where his money used to be.” (Unknown)

“By the time a man realizes that maybe his father was right, he usually has a son who thinks he’s wrong.” (Charles Wadsworth)

“I talk and talk and talk, and I haven’t taught people in 50 years what my father taught by example in one week.” (Mario Cuomo)

“My father always told me, ‘Find a job you love and you’ll never have to work a day in your life.’” (Jim Fox)

If you still have your father in your life, you are blessed. If you are a new father, may this Father’s Day be the first in a long line of Father’s Days. If your kids have left home, or cannot be with you, I sincerely hope they will remember their father on the day we set aside to honor fathers everywhere.

Summer is truly one of the great seasons to be a father, and I hope you’re able to take the time to enjoy some of the activities that kids remember far into their adult years. Make some memories this Father’s Day!
