This week we’re kicking off a new feature in Tuesday Tactics called “The Closing Word.” Each week we’re going to provide a new word to help build your vocabulary, and show you how to specifically implement it in business. While we’ve always been fans of the old saw, “Never use a fifty-cent word when a ten-cent word will do,” there’s a definite advantage to growing your vocabulary and learning to use the word in real-life situations. A well-spoken, intelligent agent inspires confidence with clients and colleagues alike.
This week’s “closing” word:
Pronounced: (a-MEL-yuh-rayt, uh-MEE-lee-)
verb tr., intr.: To make or grow better; to improve. Make (something bad or unsatisfactory) better.
Example:
“I’d be happy to ameliorate any fears you may have about my experience marketing homes online. As you can see from my website and Facebook page, I make every effort to ensure your home gets maximum exposure in the community.”
