This week we continue our vocabulary-building series, “The Closing Word.” Each week we provide a new word to help build your vocabulary and show you an example of how to use it.
This week’s closing word:
exiguous
Pronounced: (eck-SIG-you-us)
Adjective:
extremely scanty
From Vocabulary.com: “Exiguous is one of those words that comes in handy when you’re really trying to draw attention to the fact that there’s very little of something. Otherwise you could just say “tiny,” “small,” “niggling,” or even “scanty.”
Example:
“With an exiguous amount of desirable inventory on the market, offers were extremely competitive.”
