This week we continue our vocabulary-building series, “The Closing Word.” Each week we provide a new word to help build your vocabulary and show you how to specifically implement it in business. A well-spoken, intelligent agent inspires confidence with clients and colleagues alike.
This week’s closing word:
Pronounced: (ram-ih-fuh-CAY-shun)
Noun:
1. A consequence of an action or event, esp. when complex or unwelcome.
2. A subdivision of a complex structure or process.
Synonyms:
branch – fork – embranchment – offshoot
Note: People often incorrectly spell (and pronounce) “ramification” as “ramnification.” The extra “ni” is incorrect.
Example:
“It’s very important to only buy as much house as you can afford. The ramifications of an unrealistic mortgage payment include family stress, consumer debt, and ultimately the threat of foreclosure.”
